Another patent covering link/resource scoring

Again, if you are in SEO you should be making yourself aware of these things, and the best source by far and away is Bill Slawski

Reshared post from Bill Slawski

A Google patent discusses how a site might be labeled a low quality site by Google based upon the links from other pages pointed to the site, and how this can potentially reduce rankings for a page.

How Google May Classify Sites as Low Quality Sites
A Google patent describes how it may assign a site a low quality score based upon the links pointed to the site; such as links from boilerplate or multiple redundant resources on a site.

I suspect some if the methods discussed here go well beyond classification of site links, and may indicate how overall scoring of links occurs. This also goes to show just how advanced the rendering abilities of Google may be.

Great work from Bill Slawski (as usual), and very much worth reading if you’re an SEO.

Google has a new granted patent and a newly published patent application on the sitelinks that they might show in search results for a site. Are sitelinks showing for your site, and if not, why not?

Excellent presentation of stats and figures from opponents of Google’s Shopping Comparison practices in the EU (and particularly the UK).

Very well put together.

After 12 years working in SEO there are very few SEO blogs I find useful

FWIW I think this latest Google update could be the Anti-Panda, and the adorable Panda that used to hang around is now gone to great big Panda Heaven up in the sky.

Based on nothing other than the shape of the tea leaves in the bottom of my cup, but it would make a lot of sense to replace something that required batch updates with something that worked in real-time (and how many times did a Googler say they were working on making Panda real-time?).

Just my €0.02.

My Nexus 5 running 5.1 has been suffering from random reboots and app optimizations.

Judging by the sheer volume of Nexus 5 users reporting this it looks very much like a software update may be killing the hardware. I'll be mega pissed if this phone dies due to s/w updates from Google.

Hoping no hardware damage, but boy does it run hot when optimizing those apps each time it dies.

Please Android fix this.
